CLASS DESCRIPTION

This is a beginner level class where students learn about tuck, pike, and straddle positions. Girls work all the women’s Olympic events (vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor/tumbling), gaining confidence on each apparatus.  On floor, they are introduced to inversion skills including rolls, bridges, handstand and cartwheel.  They will also spend time working on building strength and flexibility.

Classes are based on a student’s skill level.  Once a student passes a level, she will then be invited to the next level class.

Our recreational gymnastics program serves participants from 18 months of age through the first three levels of the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic program. USA Gymnastics is the governing body for the sport of gymnastics in the United States. The program is designed for both introductory/recreational and competitive gymnastics which means your child can come simply for the fun and benefits of gymnastics or work harder and possibly be invited to our competitive team.

General Class Questions

Is gymnastics safe?

With proper instruction, gymnastics is a very safe sport. Many clubs will skip basic skill progressions that are deemed “easy” but do not understand the fundamental foundation that these skills develop to help prevent injury. Repetition is the key to safe gymnastics. When the body is habitually wired to perform a basic skill, other, more difficult skills, can be added safely. Boost Gymnastics promotes a culture of safety and a healthy respect for the sport of gymnastics. All activity at Boost Gymnastics is always supervised.

While all physical activity contains an inherent risk of injury, we have developed our curriculum to prevent injury from a lack of proper training. One of the many benefits of gymnastics training is the overall agility the student develops. This agility can help to prevent slips, falls, and injuries in any other sporting endeavor as well as in daily life.

What makes you different from other gymnastics clubs?

Our primary focus is on our students, their parents and family members, and our staff. Our goal is to provide the best and safest gymnastics to our students, unparalleled service to their parents, and to hire, train, and retain the best coaches for your child. We use all of our resources to attain those goals. We base every business decision every day on those goals.

We teach awesome, safe gymnastics. We don’t ‘dabble’ in gymnastics. We don’t teach other sports. Good gymnastics is the foundation for all other sports. We want our students to learn great gymnastics, have fun, and to take advantage of all the benefits this great sport has to offer.

We have the best coaches. Our coaches and employees endure a tough interview process that involves background checks and multiple interviews. We have an extensive training program that each coach must complete before he or she is allowed the honor of coaching your child. Many of our coaches are former gymnasts, but a great gymnast does not always make the best coach. Our coaches love being around kids and passing on their love of gymnastics to each student.

Our coaches all teach the same curriculum. If you have to switch days and times and your child gets a new coach, he/she will learn the same skills as his/her previous class and pick up right where he/she left off. Students are promoted by merit and skill accomplishment.

We track progress.Students will be evaluated during the year.  Parents/students will receive copies of their evaluations.  Once a student passes a level, she will be able to enroll in the next level.

We are not a daycare. We are an instructional facility that teaches your child gymnastics, a very athletic sport. Even our camps & events focus on some kind of gymnastics.

We never stop learning. We constantly and continuously train our coaches on not only gymnastics skills and techniques, but child development, discipline, and psychology. We understand how important a coach can be to a child, and we only hire the best for your child and train them very well through continuing education.

What is the best age to start a child in gymnastics?

Right now is the best age! We have seen students begin gymnastics in their early teens and go on to have very successful gymnastics careers. It’s also beneficial to place your child in a gymnastics class as early as 18 months. You know your child best and know what he/she can handle. Many times a gymnastics class is the first interaction a young child will have with an adult other than a family member.

What should my child wear to class?

A one piece leotard is preferred for girls. Shorts or sweat pants and t-shirts may be worn for boys and girls as long as they are not baggy or covering the feet and present a danger spotting the child. Girls hair should be tied back (i.e. ponytail, braids, bun etc). No jewelry is allowed to be worn. All children must have bare feet while in class.

What happens if I’m running late to pick up my child from camp or class?

Just give us a call and let us know! We completely understand that things happen. We will have a coach stay with your child until you arrive. There is a $15 fee for anyone who is 20 minutes late picking up their child from camp and a $1 fee for every minute after until you arrive.

What days are you closed?

Holiday or prescheduled closing: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break during December/January, and Spring break.

Weather related or unscheduled closings: Boost Gymnastics does not follow any school closing decisions. We will provide an announcement on the answering machine , website, and social media prior to the day’s classes if the facility is going to be closed. To avoid phone congestion please refer to our website or social media for updates regarding weather.

What is the difference between Gymnastics classes and Tumbling classes?

Gymnastics classes are designed for students to learn skills on all gymnastics apparatus including: vault, bars, beam, floor. Tumbling classes focus on floor only. Tumbling skills are taught such as; rolls, cartwheels, standing backbends & kick-overs, round-offs, back handsprings, back tucks, etc.

How will gymnastics benefit my child? Isn’t gymnastics only for girls?

Strength, flexibility, agility, balance, coordination… the list goes on and on. Many articles have been written on the benefits of gymnastics. This statement is one of the best summations of the benefits of gymnastics:

“Gymnastics is a terrific sport for young people. Many people have grown up in and by gymnastics to become doctors, lawyers, teachers, business people, professors, police officers, nurses, scientists, and many others. Gymnastics provides an outstanding way for young people to test their mettle against themselves and others. Gymnastics can provide opportunities for physical development, character development, and education that are hard to find anywhere else.” – William Sands, Ph.D.

Obviously this statement pertains to boys as well as girls. Many boys who began gymnastics at a young age have graduated to excel in other sports like football, basketball, soccer, baseball, swimming, and track and field. More than a few former gymnasts have gone to college on pole vaulting scholarships.

Is Open Gym, Camp, or Parent's Night Out the same as a gymnastics class?

None of our camps or events are the same as a gymnastics class. While they are extremely fun and skills can be practiced, nothing can replace the instruction from a coach you receive in a class. Events and camps should be used as a supplement to a class and a time to have lots of FUN with friends!

What are the policies regarding students before/after class and during class?

Classes start and end on time. Do not drop off a student more than 15 minutes early for class unless prior arrangements have been made with the front desk. Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late for class will not be allowed to participate for the class. Proper stretching is a must before starting practice. We are not able to pull another coach away from class to stretch the child who arrived late. Please pick your child up on time at the end of class.

Students are expected to follow the gym rules and listen to their coach. Coaches give corrections to students to enhance their abilities and to ensure safety of the student and others around them. Students who are continually disruptive in class will be removed from the class for the day. Our motto: Safety First!!

Are parents allowed inside the gym to watch classes?

We have two viewing areas for class observation. However, for the safety of our students and coaches, parents and spectators are NOT allowed inside the gymnastics area during classes. Parent and Tot classes are exempt.

Is there a visitor/parent policy?

We ask that you do not talk or wave to your child while they are in class. Interruptions could cause serious injury to your child or another child. No flash photography is allowed. This is a USA Gymnastics safety rule. Under no circumstances are children or parents who are not participating in class allowed on the gym floor. If you need to speak with an instructor, please do so at the end of your child’s class. Our instructors are always happy to answer any questions you may have but please keep in mind they may have other children waiting for them. Also, please supervise siblings who are in the seating area.

I think I left something at the gym. What should I do?

We suggest that valuable items not be brought to the gym. Boost Gymnastics is not responsible for any items lost or stolen. However, we do pick up items at the end of the night. If you think you may have left something here, please call the front desk as soon as possible to see if we may have found it. Unclaimed items are donated to charity.

Questions About Tuition Costs/Fees

Do you have registration fees? Do I need to re-register each year?

Boost Gymnastics has a $40 individual registration fee for one student. Additional children in the same family will owe $20 per additional child. This fee is pro-rated beginning January 1st. There is a $15 registration fee for new students who enroll in summer classes only. Every student must register at the start of a new session year (typically August).

May my child try a class first before we decide to enroll?

While we’re confident your child will love his/her class, you may absolutely try a class before you sign up. Just give us a call or email us at info@boostgymnastics.com and we can set up a free trial class for you. Due to high enrollment and for ratio purposes, all trial classes must be scheduled in advance. All we ask is that you let us know after your trial if you’d like to join the class so we don’t hold the spot from another customer.

What is your tuition policy? How do I make payments?

There is a no return policy on any tuition that is paid to Boost Gymnastics. We are a year-round program with a monthly tuition based on an average of four classes per month. If there are five classes in a month, we do not increase tuition. If there are three, we do not give credit.

All tuition payments are due on the 15th of the previous month with a $10 late fee assessed after the 25th. Failure to pay within (30) days of the due date will result in the child being removed from the class. Families will be strongly encouraged to enroll in our automatic electronic payment system. Boost Gymnastics also has a month to month plan that will allow for cash, checks or credit cards. Tuition payments to Boost Gymnastics will renew monthly unless we receive a discontinuation notice by the 10th of the current month. Please send notice to info@boostgymnastics.com.

For your payment convenience, we accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and debit cards as well as checks and cash. You have the option to pay at the front desk, your personal online portal (‘log in’ top right corner of this site) or the payment drop box located at the double door entrance by the Proshop. Please do not drop cash in the drop box and write your childs name and phone number on your check.

If my child starts class in the middle of the month is my tuition prorated?

Yes tuition will be prorated based the first class taken.

What if my child is sick and misses a class? Can we do a makeup class?

Regular class attendance is suggested to maintain continued development in gymnastics. Children should not be brought to gymnastics if they are contagious or the effects of their illness could make participation unsafe.

To be eligible for a make up, the absence must come during a regularly scheduled class time. A student is eligible to make up for free during an open gym time within 4 weeks of the student absence. In order to participate with no charge, you must call the office before your child misses his or her class to reserve a spot in open gym.

How much does it cost to change classes?

There is no charge to change classes. You can either make the change online through the portal (space permitting), at the front desk, give us a call, or shoot us an email at info@boostgymnastics.com.

Do I get a credit for the holiday closings or if I miss a class?

We do not give credits for holiday closings just like we do not increase your tuition when you receive 5 classes in a month. Every student is guaranteed 4 classes per month, on average, or 48 classes per year.

Think of your tuition as leasing a spot in one of our classes. As long as you are current on your tuition, you will not lose your spot if you miss a class.

Is there a sibling discount?

Yes you will receive 10% off of every child’s tuition in your family.

Do I receive a discount if I am a Boost FitClub member?

Yes, Boost FitClub members receive 10% of tuition.

Do you have a customer referral program?

Absolutely! We love when our customers tell their friends about Boost Gymnastics as it is the highest compliment we can receive. If your friend enrolls in a class, you both receive a $30 credit on your account. Also, if you “like” us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter, you will receive a free Open Gym credit.

What is Boost Gymnastics withdrawal policy?

Boost Gymnastics maintains a 12 month schedule. If you are planning to leave for any reason, you must notify info@boostgymnastics.com by the 10th of the month. Failure to notify Boost Gymnastics will result in being held responsible for the upcoming months bill. Boost cannot guarantee withdrawals unless they are submitted to info@boostgymnastics.com.
